Focal L band Array for the Green Bank Telescope (FLAG)

Overview

The Focal L band Array for the Green Bank Telescope (FLAG) is the most sensitive phased array radio camera demonstrated to date. Digitally synthesized beams provide a wide field observation capability and flexibility for different observation scenarios. FLAG is available for scientific usage at L band on a scheduled basis on the GBT. The digital back end processes up to 150 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth, tunable from 1200-1500 MHz.

Information for FLAG Observers

FLAG is currently transitioning from expert user mode to “guided user mode.” The software is functional and includes a user interface suitable for array observations, calibration, beamforming, and imaging. The FLAG team is available to provide training and guidance for prospective users and a modest learning curve should be expected. If you are interested in using FLAG, please contact one of the FLAG PIs for guidance.
